The crazy discounts I find on some e-commerce websites are super juicy and tempting. Even Udemy, one of the largest online learning platform is giving out a discount on some courses that ordinary would cost a fortune.
This is the period of Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales, most sellers are using this medium to sell out their old stock at ridiculous prices. I am not saying these items are not original.
One will begin to imagine if these mind-blowing discounts are real or just a branding strategy. Arguably, there are situations whereby the price of an item displayed on the landing page is different from what is being advertised. And that could be frustrating, just like what some online media do. They post a headline on social media, when you click on it, another thing entirely comes up.
However, when I checked some of these websites the prices of some items were slashed over 50 percent, some less. Are they selling below cost price or selling substandard items? One will definitely ponder.
Leading e-commerce giant in Africa, Jumia, Konga, Yudala have special deals which is driving lots of traffic to their site. People are always on these websites to see if there are deals that could favor them.
I visited some of these websites in search of iPhone 5S, one of my favorite smartphones, not even the iPhone 6S. I just believe that the design and class of the iPhone 5S remains the best, which one of the things Apple is known for.
One of the best deals I saw was on Jumia, iPhone 5C which sells for as low as N38, 000 (Refurbished), although not interested. iPhone 5S was as high as N58, 000 (Refurbished). I was expecting a lesser price, I didn’t find any. It’s still a good deal if you compare it with some prices I found on other e-commerce stoes..
For instance, Konga sells iPhone 5S at the rate of N79, 000 while Yudala database displayed nothing about the device, which simply means they don’t have it. Other Apple devices like the iPhone 6 and 7 had significant discounts on these e-commerce stores but I don’t care.
In a chat with Olumide, a good pal of mine, a Public Relations Officer at Konga, he told me that a TV worth at least 100k sells for 65k during the sale. It is out of stock now: 39-inch Innjoo Android TV.
He goes on to tell that there’s a gas cooker that is 32k now from its original price and eventually sent me a link to check some of the deals out.
I did, but before that, I had surfed the web to see them myself. So, it wasn’t a joke. But, I was curious to ask if there is a way to get good deals for iPhone after checking Konga website without finding any, he if I wasn’t able to see it, then, it’s out of stock.
I hope to find a good deal on the iPhone 5S next times I check.
