Tutor Finder, Playjoor and House of Uwe have been supported with a seed fund of $10, 000 by Tenece Group following the recently concluded Southeast startup convergence, Genesys Ignite.

Out of the 147 submissions from startups, three startups emerged as winners after a rigorous and thorough selection process by a distinguished panel of judges.

Presenting the cheques to the winners, the Special Guest of Honour and Minister of Science and Technology, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu, alongside former Nigerian Senate President, Senator Ken Nnamani, who chaired the event, commended Genesys for providing financial assistance, a significant impediment for startups in the region.

Speaking at the event, Kingsley Eze, the CEO of Tenece Group explained funding is not just what many startups need to thrive and become successful.

He added that startups also need structures, as well as enabling an environment that would help beef up their level of creativity.

“We have provided them with a seed fund of $10, 000 each as a support to the three startups that won and believe me, all the submissions recorded seem good, but we had just to pick the three.”

The three startups, House of Uwe, Playjoor and Tutor Finder have different problems they are solving in the Nigerian startup ecosystem.

Uwe.ng is an e-commerce shop selling made-to-order African apparels proudly designed in Africa by very experienced African designers.

House of Uwe provides a solution to the need of the fashion market by allowing shoppers order a custom-made, individually tailored piece they genuinely love.

PlayJoor is a platform for real-time multiplayer games. The developers make it possible for players to earn while competing against other players at a game they are skilled at.

The startups’ founders believe that people should enjoy games they are skilled at and to cap it up, earn while playing the games.

Tutor Finder is the leading home tutors in South East Nigeria with reach in Owerri, Awka, Enugu and Aba and over 54 professional tutors.

They provide learners with the advantage of quality, experienced and innovative teachings that make them become the finished articles, far beyond the limitation of classroom learning.
