With its numerous landmark strides in the area of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) and given the enabling environment and support, the Zinox Group has all it takes to compete favourably with the world’s most renowned conglomerates.
This was the position of the Hon. Minister of Communications, Barr. Abdur- Raheem Adebayo Shittu who paid a working visit to the headquarters of the company in Gbagada, Lagos on Monday.
The Minister who was led on a guided tour of the company by the Group Chairman, Leo Stan Ekeh, witnessed first hand the various infrastructure and facilities within the premises including the digital computer hardware manufacturing and assembly plant, telecoms e-Hub unit, Data Centre, bandwidth aggregation and digital security infrastructures, warehousing facilities as well as after-sales service and support centre, among others.
In his address to members of Management and the Press corps, the Oyo State-born lawyer lauded the huge capabilities, human capital potential and technological proficiency on display in the various facilities, while expressing confidence in the ability of the company to hold its own against ICT giants from other parts of the world.
“I have embarked on similar visits to organizations abroad but what I have seen today gives me huge confidence in the ability of our serious local companies to do the country proud even when bench-marked against other companies on the world stage. It is clear with the huge investment I have seen here that the Zinox Group is highly focused and committed to raising the standards in the country.
“Although I have known Leo Stan Ekeh for a relatively short period of time, his story is one that I am very familiar with in the last 20 years, especially as it mirrors that of the Chinese tech giants Huawei.
“Like Zinox, Huawei’s amazing rise is down to the vision of one man who grew the company from a position of obscurity to one with a turnover of over $56 billion in 2015. One thing the founder did which proved to be a master-stroke was in his commitment to his staff by making every one of them a shareholder in the company.
“I must commend Leo Stan as I have witnessed the relationship you enjoy with your colleagues and your commitment to helping them grow.
“From my tour round the structures, I have also seen enough to assure me that, with the right support from the government, the Zinox Group can be a name we can all be proud of as Nigerians. And on my part, you can count on me for support in any value-adding area that will enhance the lot of Nigeria and Nigerians.”
Also speaking, Mr. Ekeh who thanked the Minister for making out time from his busy schedule for the visit, noted that the Zinox Group remains the single largest 360 degrees ICT conglomerate in the sub-region with advanced competencies in the entire spectrum of the sector, ranging from hardware manufacturing, distribution, integrated ICT solutions, Telecoms, retail, world class support and much more with offices in many other countries. He pleaded for more support and level playing ground for Nigerian companies.
While presenting the Zinox Legacy – Nigeria’s first internationally certified branded laptop – to the Minister, Mr. Ekeh reiterated his commitment and support for the government’s drive to create more employment opportunities for millions of Nigerians, while urging the media to partner with the Minister in transforming the country’s communications narrative for the benefit of all.
With well over a decade of pioneering efforts and excellent service delivery, Zinox enjoys widespread acclaim as Nigeria’s foremost ICT company. In addition to its enviable status as pioneer manufacturers of Nigeria’s first internationally certified branded computers and mobile devices, the company has deployed some of the biggest projects in the continent, while institutionalizing high-end ICT solutions which have contributed in moving the sector and the Nigerian economy to the next level.
Well, I don’t doubt that. With an enabling environment, and support from the government, we can compete with the world-renowned tech giants. We just need to stay focus.
I see a Nigeria where mobile phones would be fully made and produced locally, in a short time from now.
So, let’s go there!
Mr Ekeh is a man i have wondered how he made it out in this field, consistency and right moves, congrats sir and good one there from the minister
I really think it is possible, bt they will have to put more effort and commitment if they want to achieve their goal.
The visit by minister to zinox group is a step in right direction by new government of President Muhammadu Buhari through the minister. This shows that the government has started working and it is ready to hit the ground running. Zinox group has the potentials to compete with world renowned ICT companies if giving the right support and incentive from government. With the visit of minister to zinox group the minister and government should work together so that the dream of minister for zinox group will be achieved.
This one brand nigerian must patronize for the growth of technology in Nigeria. If it appears a very lucrative venture, more firms would erupt in the future and probably more competition and eventually much more quality. I’m envious of the Honorable minister who had the pleasure of touring their plant. That’s an experience I’d love to have.
They are doing well not just in Nigeria, but worldwide and they can only get better.
It is nothing short of the truth.
