Technology is assisting learning to be more fun in more developed countries and African countries should take a cue from this so as not to be left behind as the world is already a global village. The internet, blogs and smartphones are tools that are available to provide technology that can be used to enhance learning in the 21st-century classrooms. This has really improved the technological advancement in advanced countries. Artificial intelligence has by far taken the world to another level through the creation of computers and software with human intelligence and these can be applied positively to improve learning technologically today.
- Virtual Reality: Virtual Reality is a new trend in modern student laboratory setup in developed countries. Experimental equipment is integrated with computers such that students can view reactions on a computer screen and stereoscopic displays. In some other ways, teachers can bring important personalities to the classroom, e.g., a Minister that is relevant to the subject at hand, to have a rapport with the students in class through Skype or video conferencing. This is capable of bringing excitement to the students as it electrifies the classroom atmosphere. It is interesting to note that Virtual Reality is one of the 3 2016 tech predictions to watch out for. African countries can emulate this by budgeting for tech gadgets capable of bringing education on things to African children, especially, in remote areas, which they could never have been able to know about or view, to them right in their classrooms in this 21st century.
- Tech Research: In the developed world, it is not uncommon for students to, through the use of tech innovations, express their creativity by producing video presentations or computer animations as their projects. There are a lot of students in Africa that are capable of doing same if given the opportunity to have access to tech tools in their classrooms.
- Multimedia Approach To Learning: In advanced countries, the use of multimedia is currently assisting teachers to easily impart requisite knowledge to to their students. These, they use with the provision and use of audio and video recordings etc. These leave lasting impressions in the minds of students and very excellent ways of imparting knowledge. African countries should strife t also key into these modes of imparting knowledge in the 21st century.
All the above are achievable in Africa, but the governments must be ready to budget for these and follow them through as well as provide cheaper and faster internet connectivity and electricity to power the processes.African students cannot afford to be left behind. Technology is coming and is here to stay, lecturers no longer have to come to lecture room anymore, they stay in their office and give out lectures, just like the guy that leaked USA CIA’s secret gave a conference from Russia to the USA, now what opportunity awaits all youths in Africa, we just need to learn
We need to learn and keep practising. Playing catch up is bad enough, doing nothing is even worse
like seriously, its high time africans and nigeria pack up the use of chalk and white marker. Technology has made it more easy, alll we need is for the govt to focus their attention in bringing technological techniques into our classrooms. But my fear is now how much each student will pay?
The impact of technology is everywhere. I repeat everywhere. Anyone who feels left out does not just know how to exploit it. It’s more evident of course in western countries, how impossible Technology is in learning. Is that not how distant learning came about? It’s better, Africans wake up to it. We have enough talent to stand on the same line with them I the nearest future
Technology has really rule the world with it’s great impact by making learning easier, it’s time government support more of the usage in the education sector
All we need to achieve this is to invest heavily on our educational sector and in the near future we’ll be the biggest gainers.
